Grape Variety
Blaufränkisch
A dark-skinned Central European variety known as Frankovka in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Blaufränkisch in Austria and Lemberger in Germany. It gives deeply coloured wines with firm acidity and dark berry fruit, and that acidity is why it turns up in rosé sparkling cuvées as well as in still red wine.
